چکیده

OSS embodies the operations that telcos must carry out to meet customer satisfaction and generate revenue. Current and emerging OSS requirements place very strict requirements on the telecommunication management architecture. The distributed mediation-based management architecture has shown the kind of capability required to handle the ever-changing OSS needs. A mediation-based management system relies heavily on the mediation layer making it the portal between all OSS operations and the underlying network elements. A robust mediation layer is critical to the survivability of a telco adopting the mediationbased management system. This paper reports work in progress on performance issues in Distributed Mediation Systems based on CORBA. Index Terms – OSS, Telecomm Management, Mediation, DPE, Distributed Database, Performance issues.

Tool to evaluate performance in distributed heterogeneous processing

The next generation computing architectures will consist of a fusion of heterogeneous systems interoperating. This concept is gaining popularity, yet there are currently few tools available for performance visualisation and management of heterogeneous interoperating systems using middleware. This paper looks at the design of middleware performance tools, using our current project as an example....

Distributed Information Mediation and Query Processing in a Corba Environment

A heterogeneous information system can be built on a large number of component systems which are interconnected by a LAN or WAN. The data stored in these component systems are likely to have very diierent naming, structural and semantic representations. The querying facility of the information system needs to couple with an information mediation facility to resolve data heterogeneity problems s...

Object Caching in a CORBA Compliant System

Distributed object systems provide the key to building large scale applications that can execute on a range of platforms. The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) specification from OMG attempts to address interoperability and heterogeneity issues that arise in such systems. Our goal is to investigate performance issues for distributed object systems. We claim that object caching i...

Performance Issues of HLA Run Time Infrastructure based on CORBA

The High Level Architecture (HLA) is a new standard technical architecture for distributed simulation to facilitate interoperability and reuse of simulation systems. The HLA provides a common simulation framework in which a set of basic simulation services is available to developers using an object-oriented approach. The underlying Run Time Infrastructure (RTI) provides a communications framewo...

Cache management in CORBA distributed object systems

For many distributed data intensive applications, the default remote invocation of CORBA objects by clients is not acceptable because of performance degradation. Caching enables clients to invoke operations locally on distributed objects instead of fetching them from remote servers. This paper addresses the design and implementation of a specific caching approach for CORBA-based systems. We pro...
